Direct SCADA Integration: Modbus Now Available on the Intellisonde DI

That’s why we are excited to announce a significant enhancement to our Intellisonde DI devices: Modbus connectivity is now available! 

For decades, Modbus has stood as the de facto standard communications protocol in industrial automation. This robust and widely adopted protocol facilitates communication between devices, operating on a client-server model where a “client” (or “master”) initiates requests and the “server” (or “slave”) responds. At its core, Modbus operates over a “physical layer” – the literal wiring configuration. In our case, we leverage the reliable RS485 standard, which utilizes two power lines and two data lines for efficient data transmission. 

The broad adoption of Modbus makes it an essential protocol for interfacing with most SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, typically via Remote Terminal Units (RTUs). By integrating Modbus connectivity directly into our Intellisonde DI devices, we are offering even more ways to get your valuable water quality data into your existing monitoring infrastructure – adding to our existing offering of IoT, SFTP, and API. 

This enables the Intellisonde DIs to be plugged directly into your RTUs to get the data directly into your SCADA system. Take advantage of your existing infrastructure or the flexibility to integrate your own RTU to make the Intellisonde DI work for your application. Meaning you can now more easily gain access to the powerful insights that come from reliable real-time water quality measurement.
